House Bill 21

The following information has been sent from the STARC districts representatives in Austin.

House Bill 21 has passed out of the House Education Committee.  The full House is expected to consider and pass the budget net Thursday, APRIL 6.  The process will then move to a conference committee of the House and Senate members.  Feel free to contact Senators Nelson, Hinojosa, Schwertner, Huffman, Taylor and Bettencourt at any time.

HB21 is not a perfect solution for Jim Ned CISD but it is the only bill moving through the process that includes substantial new revenue for schools.

A link to a form letter for those who are willing to contact the Legislature to express their support for ASATR funding. Please input your information into the letter template and verify your representatives and send to then as soon as possible.

ASTAR

In January 2017, the 85th Legislative Session will officially begin.  Prior to that, legislators and legislative staff must be educated on the facts of ASATR (Additional State Aide for Tax Reduction).  We must work to ensure that members of our community know the answer to the question of ASATR and why it is important.

To educate our community on the facts of ASATR, Lovejoy ISD has prepared a video and shared it with communities statewide.  Please take a few minutes to watch the video.
