Health Insurance Q&A

Q:  When I view the Master Comparison for the health insurances, is the price listed without the $150 employee contribution?

A:  Correct, the monthly premium listed does not include the $225 contribution from JNCISD ($150) and State ($75)

Q: If we decide to go with the Active Care with Blue Cross Blue Shield, do we enroll now as well through the benefits hub?

A:  Correct, all enrollment regardless of medical coverage is completed through the benefits hub.

Q:  I have looked at all the insurance information and want to change my insurance, but I can not figure out where I go to enroll. Do I get the enrollment packet on line or from your office?

A:  Medical along with supplemental insurance selections can be made in the Employee Benefits Portal.

Q: If I get it online...where?

A: http://www.mybenefitshub.com/jimnedcisd

Q: Is it too late to sign up for vision?

A: No, Supplemental insurance including vision can be selected through August 21, 2020.

Q:  I am so confused by insurance. Can we set a meeting to hopefully help me with this?

A:  Yes, Wednesday immediately following the MS Convocation at 4:00 p.m in the cafeteria.  Friday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the administration building & 3:00 p.m. at Buffalo Gap.

Q:  The TRS insurance policies have 100% coverage in case of COVID-19 expenses including testing, treatment and hospitalization.  Is this the case for the TX Schools Health Benefits Plans as well?

A:  Call: (888) 803-0081 to speak directly to a TSHBP representative.

Q:  Is this the case for the TX Schools Health Benefits Plans as well, or are those policies not considered to be TRS policies?

A: TSHBP is not a TRS plan.  It is a cooperative plan available to Jim Ned CISD employees through the District of Innovation and JNCISD's partnership with West Texas Benefits Cooperative as third party administrator.

Q:  Am I reading correctly that the TRS conventional plans only cover statewide coverage, and that a HD plan or the TX Schools plans are the only way to get national coverage?

A:  Correct

Q:  Does this mean if you are traveling or out of the state and are involved in an accident, you would be considered out of network?

A:  Correct

Which plan do you recommend?

A:  There are different plans to provide the best coverage based on individual needs.  Each person or family's situation is different and their insurance needs are different as well.  Example:  If you are only interested in catastrophic coverage then a HD plan is probably most beneficial to your needs.

If a staff member is in close contact with a person who tests positive for COVID, does the staff member have to quarantine?  No, a staff member who has been potentially exposed to a COVID-positive case can return to work if he/she is experiencing no symptoms.  If the staff member develops symptoms or tests positive for COVID, the staff member should stay home, see a doctor, and follow the doctor's orders.
